How to Look Tall in a Kimono for Petites

top // kimono // jogger pants // sunglasses // hat // shoes // bag // bracelet

Standing at 4’11 it is so hard for me to buy a kimono top. Most of the time they run large on me so when i saw this kimono at Target, i got really excited. Finally my ala Nicole Richie style imagination came to life hahaha. Seriously, i always admire women wearing kimono over their jeans or pants. It just looks so effortless and chic at the same time. But  being so petite it’s quite challenging to style them as compared  to taller girls.

So here are my tips to look tall in a kimono.

1. Wear monochrome – kimonos are loose and have that slouchy fit. For petite women something that is slouchy is a no no because it somehow makes you look shorter. So to balance the loose and slouchy fit of the kimono, pair it with a fitted top and pants in the same color that way it mimics elongation. Instead of looking like 4’11, you’ll look like 5’1 lol.  Hey, i’ll take a few inches and oh don’t forget the heels. It’s your best friend.

2. Show your ankles – the trick to look tall in jeans or pants is to show your ankles. It makes your legs look skinny and long.

3.  Small accessories – kimonos are designed to be over size, so to balance the somewhat bulky look of it use small and dainty accessories. Like a small bag and dainty jewelries, that way it will look balance and not grabbing each others attention.

That’s it!

I felt like so “madam” here. The only thing that is missing is a glass of wine and actually strolling in Paris where everybody look so chic, i think. But in reality i’m just along the mall near the suburbs , gotcha ! Why not? It’s a great feeling to take a break from sweatpants and jeans are kinda boring. Also, i wanted to take advantage of the nice weather we have lately. It might be too hot for some of you but it’s perfect for me. I rather be in a hot weather rather than being cold. So i really don’t mind doing a pretend fall look.

Thank you so much for reading and have a great day!
