Why Teach Reading Early

Why teach reading early?

Well, let me tell you first that I am not an expert of child education or anything like that, nor a super mom. But I just wanted to share to you my thoughts as a mom.

We all know that reading is important and it’s always a good thing that our child learns how to read early in life. I believe that introducing and exposing them to books is a great way for our kids to learn how to read.

We have 2 kids in our household and we always allocate a time for reading. Our 9 years old son reads everyday at school and at home, before he goes to bed. With our 4 years old daughter, we are starting to introduce her to reading. I have her start with sight words, i pasted it on her easel and she reads it everyday. There are some days that we missed because sometimes she doesn’t want to do it and that’s okay. I want to make reading a fun thing to do and a pleasant experience for both of us.

For kids to love and enjoy reading, I believe that they have to be expose to books. Reading to our kids even at a  young age is very important because it helps with their language development and vocabulary. It is also important to be consistent with the habits and routine, because that’s what kids depend on. Speaking of consistency, I am so glad to be introduced to Bookroo.

What is Bookroo?

Bookroo is a book subscription for your kids. You get to select your book type, whether it’s a board book or a picture book. Then you select your plan. The books that are delivered to you monthly are  hidden gems that you don’t already own and are not easy to be found online or in stores. Their books are extensively reviewed by a panel of 12 families attending Stanford University and their combined 22 kids! For more details on the review process, check out the Bookroo Review Process .

When the books arrived, they were wrapped in a nice wrapping paper. Right there, my kids felt special because the books are specially wrapped for them, plus they love opening presents. My daughter is obsessed right now with surprise toys, surprise eggs and this is perfect, surpise books!

Just like anything else in this world, consistency is the key. Especially at this age, forming habits and routine is the foundation. I know sometimes we fall short from our routines because life is not always on our favor. But we just have to get back to it and keep going.

Thank you so much for reading and have a great day!

*I received products from Bookroo in exchange of a review. All opinions are mine.
